NHTOA Executive Board Meeting Report

A meeting of the NHTOA Executive Board was held on Monday, September 15th, 2008 at the Hooksett Public Library.  It was called to order at 6:25pm by president, Bob Brown.

In attendance were Bob Brown, Bob Gidari, Doris Tuson, Paul Huard, Nancy Eastman, Richard Sholtanis, Gary Custer, Chuck Zerbinopoulos and David Cook.

The board reviewed the board report of February 21st, 2008.  Richard made a motion to accept the report and Bob Gidari seconded it.  The board voted to approve the report.

Doris indicated there was nothing to report nor had any correspondence been received as the secretary.

Paul gave a treasurers’ report and stated a current balance of $3754.41 which also includes an insurance refund check of $911.81. He said all the bills had been paid. Once the refund check was received, he had to reregister the membership for insurance.  Association members would receive a credit. This will be factored into the dues amounts for next year.  A discussion was held regarding the dues. The membership will be informed of any changes for 2009.  Paul will prepare a proposal regarding the dues and work with Doris to get the information out to the membership. He sees a need for us to restructure the way we do business with our money situation.

Nancy told us that all of those wanting to join us now must register first with the NHIAA for $20 and then with the Arbiter.  Those who may have a problem when they register need to contact Donna Plumb at the NHIAA. Her e-mail address is DonnaDPlumb@NHIAA.org.

Bob Brown asked Nancy to find out what the costs of the books would be for next year.  He spoke of the membership list and said he would forward the latest list to the board members.  He asked Paul for a check to cover the cost owed for the website fee.

Nancy gave a supervisors’ report next.  She told the board she had attended the Sports Officiating Committee meeting where several topics were discussed. Those included mileage reimbursement that was denied and a conflict of interest with coaches officiating.  She asked us to think of other ways to look at this policy.  Paul made a motion for our president and supervisor to attend a special meeting to voice our boards’ opinion.  Richard seconded it.  Nancy asked for suggestions to be given for coaches or a list of things they are not teaching their athletes.  She told us about the Manchester Invitational to be held on September 27th, 2008.  She spoke about a new position being considered at the NHIAA, namely that of, Commissioner of Officials.  She passed out some papers and asked us to give this subject some thought before the next board meeting.

Gary gave an assignor review and spoke of schools not showing up for meets, getting observations completed for the new officials, and said that some officials may only want to work closer to their homes.

For old business, Bob Gidari told us about registering for the USATFNE.  It will cost $75.  The application will be available online.

For new business, Bob Brown told us the NHIAA has to renew by July 15, 2009.  There is a need to get our registration in line with the NHIAA and our website.  Our next board meeting will be tentatively set for Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 at 6pm.  Doris will confirm this date and inform the board.

Richard made a motion to close the meeting and Paul seconded it. The board voted to close it at 7:55pm.
