NHTOA Executive Board Meeting
Report:
A meeting of the NHTOA Executive Board was held on Monday, February 13 2006 at the Hooksett Public Library. It was called to order at 5pm.
In attendance were Bob Brown, Jesse Taylor, Doris Tuson, Paul Huard, Nancy Eastman, Richard Sholtanis, Chuck Zerbinopoulos, and Gary Custer, and David Cook. Larry Martin was unable to attend.
The board was asked to review the board report of January 16th. Nancy made a motion to accept the report and Paul seconded it. The board voted to accept it as written.
Paul gave a treasurer’s report stating the current balance was $2781.46. Bob gave a bill for stationary printing to Paul for the amount of $178.00 and Nancy also had a bill for books and tests in the amount of $178.00. Paul discussed membership cards and lanyards. The cost for them would fall under the amount approved previously. Bob suggested that we need a 2005 Treasurer’s report for the upcoming annual meeting since the report was tabled at the last year’s annual meeting.
Bob mentioned that for next year’s non-testing annual meeting, we hope to have an updated Constitution with By-laws to share with the membership. He discussed the budget paper with the board. This is to be shared with the membership.
Gary spoke of the insurance issue which was briefly discussed by the board.
Richard spoke about the topic of a new hat for all. Bob asked if we should approach Larry who has been supplying them to see if we could have some made available for the annual meeting. Dave asked if we could shop between Fran and Larry to see who could give us the best price.
Bob asked if we had enough votes in favor of going forward to get a new hat. There was agreement here. After much discussion, approval was asked for the following criteria:
I) either of two colors-yellow with black lettering and logo or white with black lettering and logo; 2) need for a minimum of 50; 3) to get two quotes- one from Larry Martin and one from Karen Maineri; 4) hat should be soft, unstructured in the front and made of cotton. The certified officials would receive one and the associate members would be encouraged to buy one. Richard and Doris will work together to look into this matter. Richard made a motion to accept this and Jesse seconded it. The board voted to approve this task and its guidelines. There was a brief discussion on shirts. Other sports expect their officials to buy their own uniforms. Paul mentioned that our officials should be wearing a yellow shirt with khald pant or shorts.
For new business, Bob asked that a reminder be sent to members 5 days prior to the annual meeting and to get a copy from him to send to a few by regular mail. The Constitution can be found on the website for those who need a copy. He brought up the annual meeting and the board responsibilities. They are to include the following: Paul
will take the money; Doris and Bob will sign the cards; Nancy will hand out the books and then the certificates after the rules review; and in general the board will move any tables and chairs for room setup. Each board member will assist in any way they can to make things go more smoothly.
Chuck and Paul will work together on the membership list with the computer.
Richard will speak briefly on safety issues with the throwing events at the annual meeting. Bob mentioned that the By-laws will be an ongoing issue and a screening policy topic will also continue.
The board was given books and the test to take after this meeting was to end. Nancy worked with the board to give the test.
Nancy made a motion to close the meeting and Paul seconded it. The board voted to close the meeting at 6: 10pm.
