NHTOA Guidelines for Assigned Officials, Assignments, and the Assigning Process

1. The Assignor will communicate with athletic directors as to how an assigned official can reach a track coach, meet director, or person in charge; if an    official is going to be late for an assignment and needs to contact the school.
2. Let schools know in their assignment letter that they should contact the Assignor as soon as possible, if their assigned official does not SHOW UP for an assignment.
3. Send the first letters to available officials with a deadline of March 1 in order to receive assignments. Failure to return the availability papers by that time, may jeopa the receiving of assignments.
4. Include with assignment letters to officials, a list of school contacts and the list of schools NOT participating with our assigning process.
5. The assigned official shall arrive at an assigned meet in a timely fashion. Note:
wear the N}ITOA prescribed uniform.
6. If a non-participating high school (a school that does not choose to get their assigned official through the NHTOA using their assigning process) requests a member to officiate at their school meet; the member will NOT represent themselves at said meet as the NHTOA assigned official. The NHTOA official apparel will NOT be worn at that meet.
7. If an available official frequently declines a previously accepted assignment, the official must present a letter with an explanation of the reason(s) for declination of same. The letter must be presented to the assignor within 72 hours of the day of the declined meet. Multiple declinations of previously accepted assignments will result in a review of further assignments to said official.
8. The assigned official is responsible for attending theft assigned meets (once they have agreed to accept them). Failure to do so, without contacting the assignor prior to the start of the meet, may result in disciplinary action, to include but not limited to, a monetary fine to be paid to the NHTOA which will be equivalent to the amount of the current meet official fee. The fine will be due payable within 72 hours of the assignor becoming aware of the NO SHOW. Repeat offenders are subject to further disciplinary action by the executive board of the NHTOA.
9. Appeals of any fine will be made directly to the NHTOA Executive Board.
