NH Track Officials Association
Supervisor of Officials Annual
Report
March 5, 2005
Last year, in an
attempt to increase the pay for officials at regular meets and also address
concerns of some officials, I made a proposal to the Sports Officiating Committee
of the NHIAA. The proposal covered such aspects of officiating as the number of
athletes participating, the number of schools at meets, the number of venues at
a track meet, and the duration of many of our meets. Also mentioned was the
fact that some starters are asked to supply their own shells. (Any starter
asked to supply their own shells is asked to notify me.)
The result of the
negotiations was that the Sports Officiating Committee agreed to pay officials
during the 2005-2006 regular season as follows:
$72 for dual meets
* I official is required
$144 for invitational
meets (meets with 5 or more teams and 10 or more competitors per
team) * 1 official
is required, 2 officials are recommended.
I am scheduled to
appear before the next meeting of the Sports Officiating Committee to seek
clarification on or to define some terms in the agreement.
Also, I am
scheduled to appear before the Sports Officiating Committee to discuss payment
of officials at the Class Meets and the Meet of Champions (as part of a
subcommittee of the Outdoor Track Committee).
I am distributing a
copy of the NHIAA agreement for your records.
I am also
distributing a memo from the NIHIAA concerning policies and procedures during
thunder and lightning storms Your strict adherence to these policies would be
greatly appreciated.
